It's the American Dream

ICWT News Brief — 8/23/24

Perdue recalling 167,000lbs of chicken nuggets due to metal wire in the chicken is a reminder of the American Dream.

We are proud to live in a country where you can slaughter hordes of animals, turn the remains into nuggets, convince people to eat those nuggets, sell them metal wire instead, take back the nuggets, and still make millions of dollars a year as a CEO.

Find a better country, bro… you can’t.

The Daily Gobble x YouTube Recommendations

We all consume real news to stay informed and watch content for entertainment, but what social media recommends to you is just the tip of the iceberg. The 99% of content that doesn’t hit your feed? That’s where things get interesting. These videos aren’t just a snapshot of what some people are thinking; they’re a full-blown window into the kinds of intense, deeply-felt thoughts that people are compelled to share with the world. It’s a raw, unfiltered, peek into the real psyche of the public; it’s required reading. Somehow, this is actually what YouTube recommends me:

Today’s Highlights

1) Alone at the Top: The Dondrell Dilemma

Dondrell likes to turn his back to the camera while he speaks

My new favorite Youtuber is Dondrell209, a man who claims he has no friends because they can't keep up with him financially. Dondrell shows little to no signs of financial health himself. In this video “I’m 34 yrs old & I have no friends”, he brags that while other YouTubers often claim ‘I’m this age and I have no friends’, they are all lying, and it is Dondrell and only Dondrell who really has no friends. This video will test your comedy IQ — is it satire? If it is, it’s pretty flawless. If it’s not, it’s an insane waste of 24 minutes. I suggest just watching the first 4 or so minutes.

2) The Gabriels: My god this is dogshit.

Let me introduce you to The Gabriels (what a name). These people have no perceivable training in any kind of performance, filmmaking, or artistic craft of any kind. That being said, they put out short comedy sketches that tackle complex social issues like this video on the gender pay gap. Disclaimer: You can’t watch this stuff for too long. When I finished watching the above video for the first time, I noticed I wasn’t breathing through the whole thing. I don’t know how these people have the confidence to put this stuff out… but I guess the 2.47 MILLION subscribers feel differently. What is happening?
